History

AN-M64 500 lb is an American bomb used in aerial operations. This bomb is one of the most widespread and oldest aerial bombs in the history of the United States. It was developed during World War II and is still in use today.

The AN-M64 500 lb bomb could be deployed under the aircraft’s fuselage or on its wings using pylons.

The P-47 Thunderbolt could carry up to two AN-M64 500 lb bombs on underwing pylons, not eight as I previously stated. The P-47 could also carry smaller bombs, rockets, and additional armament
